First day of School!

Today was Kailey's first day of school. She is only going a few days a week and half days. It was fun getting her ready, new backpack and new shoes. Then yesterday about half way through the day, it occurred to me that I was going to have to leave her there for three hours. I started to worry about her being homesick or what if she didn't have any friends to play with at recess. I decided that I needed to just put the worries out of my mind and just deal with them if they actually happened.

This morning, Joel and I dropped her off, and she did great, no tears. She has always been such an independent girl.

  1. Yay! I was wondering if she would be starting school this fall. I bet she's excited. Think of it as a big 3 hour playdate with lots of kids a few times a week. :o) Your little girl is getting so big! Kailey is such a cutie. I'm excited for her!

  2. Yeah, I agree with Clare about the three hour playdate. Even though I was in the next building, it was super hard dropping Lily off at first. Don't worry about her not having any friends. For some reason, the girls always seem to do well. I guess we just raise them to be sweet. Oh, and don't be surprised if she gets upset tomorrow or something. If she does, the best thing to do is tell her you'll be back soon, you know she'll have fun and then leave. The worst thing is to linger....they ALWAYS calm down after their parents leave. She's going to do well, especially if she's independent! Hooray for Kailey!!

  3. I like those shoes Kailey picked out. It looks like they are a little Mary-Janeish. Good job Kakey (on the shoes and on being brave)!

  4. It's so hard those first couple of days of school. She looks so cute and grown up! It's really neat to see your kids learning things that someone else away from home taught them. You'll be so proud, especially since you've been a teacher and can relate.

  5. She looks so adorable! I love her tennis shoes. I think we're going to put Calyn in a preschool next year. It's like Kailey's school: Three days a week for three hours each day. It'll be nice to grocery shop with only one kid:) I'm not ready to send her to school just yet, so that's while we'll wait until next school year. Have you mentioned what your having yet? I can't remember...too many babies to keep up with:)
