What next?

Yesterday was quite a day. I woke up with a sore throat. Then set out to run errands and do some house work. There was one part that wasn't so bad, I found fresh okra at the produce stand! Joel and I LOVE fried okra (this okra proved to be saving grace at dinner time).

I feel like I have been on the phone the since Wed. of last week. I don't want to make any more phone calls for a very long time; whishful thinking I know. I have been batteling it out with Team Honda, because we bought a "certified" minivan that wasn't really certified. I'm trying to get them to refund our money that we paid for it to be "certified," but they are of course putting up a huge fight. It might be finally coming to an end after some help from Troy. BTW, Troy and Lexi, if you are ever in need of custom software or technical support, I'm volunteering Joel :) The legal advice from Troy seemed to help a lot. The Honda guy was doing some stuttering and told me that he would have to call me back at the end of the conversation. I have been on the phone with them every day since Wed. of last week, UGGHHH!

I took that call from the honda guy in the car as I was driving to lumber liquidators. Joel and I finally came to a decision on flooring and bought it yesterday. Joel and I are both pretty picky about home decor, and other stuff, and we will both explore every possible option to ensure that we are paying the least amount of money for the product that we choose. (I went to several local flooring and home improvement stores for samples, and we ordered sample from some online stores, in other words, I will throw up if I see another flooring sample) I was so glad and relieved to have finally made a decision on the flooring. So, things seemed to being going a little better, despite my nerves being bad from the call with Team Honda, then I got home to a hot house, with flooring no less, that is supposed to acclimated at a temperature range of 65-75 degrees. When I realized that the air wasn't working, I shuttered at the thought of all of the phone calls that it would take to get the air fixed in a timely manner so that the flooring didn't warp in the heat. Fortunately our house has a two year warranty for air conditioner and other stuff, but getting the home builder to take care of warranty issues is like pulling teeth. With our last warranty issue, the warranty lady just forgot to submit the work request to the sub-contractor and forgot to call us.

The new bamboo flooring.

The "frozen" ac unit :(

I didn't have dinner done when Joel got home because it took longer than expected at the flooring store and traffic was bad. If I hadn't cooked fried okra, it would've been really bad! If you didn't already know this about Joel, he doesn't function very well when he is hungry or tired (not to mention, every one is more tempermental with 80 degree heat in the house). Once he found out that there was okra cooking, he was on much better behavior. Joel and I sweated through dinner with Kailey screaming. We have been struggling to get her to eat food and not just drink juice and milk all day. She is going through a phase where she doesn't really like food that much anymore, and would rather receive nutrition via the sippy cup. She goes around saying cuppa cup with the saddest voice she can muster. It was not a fun dinner, but we did have fried okra.

After dinner poor Joel had to unload the 14 heavy boxes of wood flooring into the hot house.

We survived the night, in the heat, and I'm happy to say that the air conditioner has been temporarily fixed (they have to order a part), so i'm no longer sweating.

Anxiously awaiting

Lately, there have been lots of things to anticipate. I could hardly wait for the sonogram. Now, I am anxiously awaiting the Office season premeire. Tonight, 8 p.m. can't get here soon enough. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a try. I love this show! I usually don't get very excited about tv shows, and there aren't many that I watch regularly (except those of the Curious George, Seasme Street variety), but I watch this one religiously.

This is a picture from my favorite episode, "The injury" Dewight passes out on his desk after driving into a pole in the parking lot and acquiring a concussion. I laughed so hard that I cried at this episode.
Do you have a favorite show that you can't wait to see premeire?
Tonight is going to be a full tv night for the Bonnette's. We are starting it off with the gubernatorial debate on PBS (we are a little nerdy), then we are hopping over to NBC for the premiere's of the Office and E.R.
I didn't find out about the debate until this morning. I listen to talk/news radio (more evidence of the nerdy side), and I heard an annoucement this morning. I was so excited that I emailed Joel as soon as I got home. I have already decided on who I will vote for, but I am still anxious to see how the other guys do.

Chuck E. Cheese play date

Today after Jazzercise Kailey and I went to a play date at Chuck E. Cheese with some friends. This was the first time that we have been in a while, and Kailey is finally old enough to really enjoy the play area. She had a really good time. Here are a couple of pictures that my friend Robin sent me. I forgot to bring my camera :(
The Clifford ride was a big hit with the girls. L to R: Kailey, cousin Allison, and friend Aleena (I hope that's spelled right).

The moment that we've been waiting for.

Joel and I went for the much anticipated sonogram today. I don't know if Joel was as anxious as I was, but I was very ready to find out what we are having. I was worried too that we might not get a good look at the plumbing; that's what Dr. Breaux called it today:) But he was cooperative and it looks like we will be having a boy!!! It is always so exciting to see the baby moving around. He wasn't nearly as active as Kailey was during her sonograms. Kailey was stretched out kicking all around, but he just hung out in the fetal position. He did move his arms and legs around a little, but he wasn't nearly as active as Kailey. I even had some juice 30 min. or so before, but he was just hanging out.

Of course the sonogram is mostly to check the babies organs and growth, and we were excited to find that he is doing well. They checked out his brain, heart, kidneys, and did a few other measurements. Everything looked the way that it should, and the due date remains at February 4th .

Here you can see his arm and hand really well at the top. It is beside his head, but his head looks a little odd because of the position.

This one is a side profile with an arm or something at the top.

Another side profile view.

These are just a few of the pictures that we got. We didn't get as many unique shots this time, but I think mostly because he wasn't very active. I didn't put the "boy" shot up either. I figured that telling would be good enough.
I am really anxious to start looking for cute boy clothes and boy bedding. I love shopping as it is, and to have a good reason makes it so much more fun!!

Kailey's shoe obsession

A lot of kids like to try on other people's shoes, but Kailey is kind of obsessed. I was just thinking about it the other day, as I was going through some recent pictures. I think that in every set of pictures, there was at least one of Kailey in someone else's shoes. She comes up to me daily, taps on my foot with her foot, looks up at me, and says shoes over and over until I take off my shoes so that she can put them on. I'm gonna put a few pictures that I have collected over the past few months. I've got a couple more that are on the other computer, and some really recent ones that are still in the camera.

Tigers vs. Hokies and more

Last weekend Joel, Kailey, and I went to Jelani's the watch the tigers vs. the Hokies. The Hamiltons also came. We had a great time. Jelani picked up buffalo wild wings. Kailey and Allison had a really good time turning the tv off as we watched; it was a fun game for them. It looks like the Tigers are off to a good start. I definitely thought that that game would be a lot closer than it was. I am just excited that it's football season. First of all, I love to have football on tv, even if I'm not watching, just to hear it in the background is great. I think I love to hear it in the background, because it reminds me of when I was younger, if there was a football game on, pappaw had it on the tv. Secondly, if football is on tv, that means cool weather is coming!!

Kacelia found some toys for the girls to play with.

Kailey trotting because she was excited about the food (notice french fry in the hand)

The game went way beyond bedtime, but the girls did well.

Jamie and I went to the mall tonight to get Allison a birthday dress (she turns 1 tomorrow!!!), and had a really good time. We found an incredible sale at Children's Place (cute t-shirts and pajamas for $0.99!!), I got Kailey a Halloween costume, and we went to Chic Fil A for dinner in hopes that we would run into one of our former students that we both taught at Tara, that works there. We were in luck, he was there, and we got to talk to him about how his senior year is going, his promotion to manager at the chic fil a, and his college plans. It is always so much fun to see former students and to hear that things are going well for them.

One week until the sonogram. I was talking to a friend Robin last night at a group FHE about the sonogram, and it was brought up that some times the babies aren't cooperative. I will be soooo sad if we are not able to see if its a boy or girl. I think that baby knew I was typing about him/her because he/she started moving all around just now :) Also, I have a friend that was told that she was having a girl, but the girl turned out to be a boy! I hope that none of that kind of stuff happens to us because I am so anxious to buy some cute clothes, start looking at bedding, and planning the room.

Tomato sauce fiasco and boat ride pawpaw

I haven't put up any new posts lately, but Joel just put in a movie, a Beowulf looking movie, and I decided that now would be a good time to get caught up. Don't get me wrong, I love the story of Beowulf, but I think mostly because I had a wonderful senior English teacher. Anyway, the medieval action movies aren't usually my type. Mostly Joel and I like the same movies, but there are a few that we just don't agree on. Mrs. Ulmer (my geometry teacher) always said, "different strokes for different folks."

Only 12 more days until the next sonogram!! I am so excited to find out what we are having. I can't wait to start planning for the new baby. Not to mention, it is so fun and exciting to see the baby moving around inside. With my first sonogram with Kailey I felt so foolish lying there crying, but I was just soooo excited to see her that I couldn't hold back the tears.

Speaking of Kailey, she seems to have hit the terrible two's a little early. Maybe I should remind her that her second birthday isn't until December. She has gotten so mischievous and rebellious lately. So far time-out has been working pretty well, but I know it will only get me so far. It is hard to be creative all of the time, thinking of ways to make the best of difficult situations, and helping her learn to be a better, more well-behaved child. I had no idea how challenging parenting could be. I have to admit that having an energetic and little bit rebellious child can also be entertaining.

A week ago I decided to try out a new recipe, Shrimp tacos with fresh tomato salsa. With the tomato salsa, I made it according to the recipe, but decided at the last minute to do some improvisation with half of it. So I got out some tomato sauce and the blender. Well, as I was deep in the thralls of experimentation, I didn't notice two little hands grabbing the 3/4 full can of tomato sauce that I had left on the counter. I didn't realize that Kailey had grown tall enough to reach stuff on the counter. She pulled it down, and as she did, dumped it all down her head and white shirt. It also made it's way onto Rickey's head, who always sticks close to Kailey in hopes that she might drop a crumb (she got more than a crumb this time). Stating the obvious, it was a HUGE mess. So i set to cleaning, first undressing Kailey. Just as I got the last of her clothes off, including her diaper, the door bell rang. It was Jamie and Allison, coming to watch the LSU game with us. I ran to get the door, and as I was gone, Kailey peed on the floor, and slipped down in the pee and tomato sauce. I felt so bad, that I had left her there and she had fallen down. Jamie helped me get her to the back and get her bathed. Jamie also got out her camera and took a picture. Once I get one from her, I'll add it to this post. I think that this was the worst mess Kailey has ever made; poor Rickey ran into her box and hid for a while.

I have also got some pictures that I've been meaning to put up for a while. A few weekends ago, we went to Ferriday, and my dad took Kailey and Allison out in his boat for their first boat ride. They both loved it! I was a little worried that Kailey wouldn't like it, because she is so afraid of anything that makes loud noises. The boat motor was a little loud, but I think Kailey would follow her pawpaw anywhere.

Allison sitting in the steering wheel. It was fun until time to turn the wheel.
